I recently did a spring trends style segment for “Good Day LA” at the new Santa Monica Place mall…First of all: HOLY AMAZING new shopping destination. Seriously, go there now. I love doing style and beauty segments. I get to pick my favorite hottest “must haves” to feature and tell everyone why they need to buy them–it’s so up my alley and I usually walk away with at least a few “LA” stories.
This last shoot was very public (I mean, we were shooting all over a shopping center), but within seconds of setting up the camera and getting mic’d, there were about 30 tourists taking my picture–snap! snap! snap!–while I was trying to give my stand-up (intro to the segment). I literally couldn’t keep a straight face. It was so strange and embarrassing. They all just kept thinking I was “somebody,” when hello? I’m so not. I wanted to scream out in the middle of my intro, “When it comes to spring trends, look no further than Santa Monica Place….PEOPLE FROM JAPAN AND ARIZONA PLEASE STOP STARING AT ME!!!” It was honestly super weird and for about 3.2 seconds, I felt famous…and it was fun…sort of ha. Then, I came back down to earth, was professional, and carried on. But, that whole scene got me thinking about our celebrities and why and how they look so “famous” when they are at the grocery store or at the airport…and on my shoot, I think I discovered one of their secrets: THE NOMAD SCARF.
Our first shot of the day was at the Fluxus store (they’re responsible for this brilliant piece of cloth). I tried on almost every scarf they had and decided The Nomad Scarf is now my official “go-to” when I need a quick, put-together look. With an insane array of colors from cream, black, teal, to pink, orange, blue, and more, you can easily transition into spring with some serious style.
Bottom line: I love this scarf because it makes you look famous. The ladies who read Us Weekly know what I mean. The paparazzi take pics of people like Jen Aniston, Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba, or Sienna Miller and they just look “famous.” I know they are famous, but they look famous. They have more of that true i’m-a-celeb-look down. They have that “I know, can you believe I’m not wearing any make-up and I just threw on these big sunnys and this basic scarf and I happen to look this good?” Well ladies (and men…Jude Law does love the Nomad), THIS IS THE SCARF. Trust me, the Nomad Scarf will effortlessly usher you into that lazy-chic look this spring…and make you feel like a celeb…even if it’s just for a spit second. And, if that doesn’t work, just hit up a local mall with a mic and a camera crew and you’ll fool everyone.
